Need to publicise the limitations that central government places on local government
Work with central government to delegate more general powers to local government where sensible
Yes it will mean central government having to let go of some of the reigns
Work with local hapu to better build systems that considers Te Triti
This will be scary and painful to many
Work actively with neighboring councils towards amalgamation.
Have to take the best of each and not just adopt one of them
Have to have a clear transition period
Need to figure out how local identities can be folded into one larger identity
We have a critical mass of people that make such a thing now vital
Need to trigger a conversation on how many people should each councillor represent and how much should each councillor be renumerated for the power they wield individually and as a group
